    General Summary:

    Acts as a functional/technical liaison, works to ensure data integrity, and provides data quality guidance.  Retains and promotes stewardship of data.

    Position Description: BBVA Compass Corporate Finance is in need of an analyst to serve as a liaison between Corporate Finance, MIS, and Engineering in the development and management of the bank’s new account profitability system.  The position will work closely with the product owner, MIS, and Engineering in the development and implementation of a new profitability system and will provide future analytical and drafting support for enhancements and modifications to that system.  This position will serve as the primary point of responsibility for ensuring the consistency, completeness, accuracy, and ongoing suitability of this crucial data asset.  The position will support Finance in the development of business requirements, translate the business data requirements into technical requirements for the developers to implement, profile and analyze the available data,  develop complex logical and physical database designs and data models in support of enterprise data management, document source to the target data mappings, coordinate UAT, and validate the data once the new functionality is moved to production.  The financial analyst is a member of a team consisting of a Scrum Master, MIS Analyst, and developers in the framework of a Scrum team. 

     

    An ideal candidate would possess the following characteristics:

    • Understand how a data mart works, especially one containing Profitability data
    • An intermediate or higher level of SQL querying
    • An interest in understanding the banking industry and the specific needs and uses of profitability information.
    • Enjoy being the bridge between technical and non-technical audiences
    • Havehad exposure to an ETL tool such as Informatica
    • Exhibits intermediate or higher level of Erwin or a comparable data modeling tool that manages the creation of conceptual, logical,and physical models.
    • Possess analytical skills
    • Display the strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with all levels of bank management
    • Experience creating source-to-target mapping specifications to be used for the creation of ETL
    • Knowledge of the financial industry
    • An intermediate level ofexperience testing/validating data
    • Team player

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  A degree in Accounting, Finance, or MIS is preferred.
    • Five or more years of experience. Requires specialized depth and/or breath of expertise. Interprets internal and/or external business issues and recommends best practices. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. May lead functional teams or projects. Is recognized as an expert in own area within the organization. Progression to this level is typically restricted on the basis of business requirements.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Comfortable working in ambiguous or time-sensitive situations.
    • Flexibility/ability to change priorities quickly.
    • Capacity to handle multiple tasks.
    • Self-motivated detail-oriented.
    • Working knowledge of the following is desirable:
    • Financial: GL, P&L, balance sheets, accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
    • Technology: Databases (Oracle, Teradata), SQL, TM1 (or other BI tool), MS Access
    • Operations: Financial services experience (bank systems, data quality role or project management).
