  • Responsibilities

    The SME Deposit Relationship Manager (DRM) is responsible for growing low-cost, core deposits
    within an assigned market/region with businesses up to $10M in revenues. The DRM will be expected to
    generate leads, follow up on prospects, create and submit proposals, and close deals. As a DRM, you will have
    pricing power within a defined range to assist with gathering MMDA and CD deposits. The DRM will support the
    bank's commercial banking business plan by developing new deposit relationships focused on customers and
    prospects in targeted deposit niches such as foundations, not-for-profit organizations, title companies, property
    management companies, etc. While the primary responsibility of this position is new business development
    through sales of non-interest bearing (DDA) and interest bearing deposit products to new and existing
    customers, this job also requires overseeing/servicing the current & future developed client portfolio


    • Develops annual business plan, consistent with the bank's plan, to target customers, prospects and
      suspects with annual revenues up to $10M who have low to no lending needs but high balances of deposits.
      Target markets include title companies, property management companies, not-for-profit organizations,
      foundations large corporate entities with non-lending, large deposit/treasury management needs and other
      market niches as identified (Public Municipalities Excluded). Ability to self-source leads and close
    • Build and maintain a network of COIs and an established book of business by making calls, seeking
      referrals and developing relationships.
    • Works closely with their assigned treasury management associate to identify opportunities including
      identifying other market niches with deposit/treasury management needs.
    • Gain a solid understanding of deposit needs of prospects and ability to provide solutions to meet those
    • Maintains an agreed upon number of active prospects (qualified, quarterly contact, Salesforce Management)
    • Generates treasury management sales by targeting deposit only relationships.
    • Cross-sells Business Banking’s entire product array, as appropriate.
    • Position BBVA Compass Bank for key opportunities.
    • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the bank's deposit and credit products and services to include
      Business Credit card, Treasury Management and Merchant Services. Working knowledge of bank’s
      Investment products & services.
    • Ability to recognize any lending needs and refer to Business or Commercial Banking officer as applicable.
    • Active community involvement is required for growing visibility of the Bank.
    • Must be able to implement products and services, and address issues on behalf of the client base.
    • Comfortable with public speaking and have proven success interacting with all levels of corporate hierarchy
      including C-Suite.


    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree, or 5+ years banking experience with focus on B2B sales, preferably self-generated
    • Highly trained professional with a keen knowledge of depository, treasury management and investment services
    • Credit training/lending experience is not required for this role, but preferred
    • Highly motivated and goal-driven
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills with high emotional intelligence.
    • Technologically savvy and familiar with CRM, preferably SalesForce
