Responsibilities

FUNCTION: Effectively review credits of moderate-to-high complexity in the bank’s loan portfolio for risk rating accuracy, adequacy of compliance with BBVA Compass Loan Policy, completeness of credit file documentation and quality of underwriting.   

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

  1. Participate in the credit quality analysis of targeted loan portfolios. Review a variety of loan types for credit quality and documentation adequacy.

 

  1.  Identify any patterns of concern during the course of the review process and notify the Review Manager.

 

  1. Ensure satisfactory review target production to promote compliance with the Audit Plan.  

 

  1. Prepare loan classification and exception documentation in the proper format and without grammatical and typographical errors. Loan classifications should effectively communicate the reasons for the assigned grade.

 

  1. Provide continuous effective communication to responsible account officers. Prompt communication regarding grade changes is required.

 

  1. Prepare complete documentation of loan reviews performed in accordance with production goals.  Information should be well supported, concise and follow the appropriate format.  Concerns over risk rating accuracy should be raised with the Team Manager/Reviewer—In-Charge.

 

  1. Provide significant contributions towards the timely completion of due diligence reviews.  Productivity should be solid with accurate results.  Reasons for grades assigned should be well documented.

 

  1. Complete special projects as requested.  The quality of work produced and the level of initiative exhibited will be strongly considered when assessing performance relative to this objective.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. A bachelor’s degree is required.  A major in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration is a plus.

 

  1. Three to five years’ experience in commercial lending sales and/or underwriting, loan examination or loan review is preferred.

 

  1. Experience in or an ability to understand borrower cash flow statement and other financial statement ratios and analysis.
