Denizen Financial Inc. is looking for a Product Risk Operations Lead that will help lead growth of a new fintech company in the bank’s portfolio of technology companies to ensure that its strategy, business, and operations align with its compliance, regulatory, risk management, and legal obligations.


This role will be multidisciplinary. It will include working on or with product, operations, compliance, fraud, information security, and data modelling, with overall accountability to maintaining the appropriate balance of risk and controls across Denizen’s organization.



As a key member of the team, the Product Risk Operations Lead is accountable for delivery of First Line of Defense product development oversight functions for customer onboarding and risk assessment.  This role will help to define new operational processes and procedures for managing customer identity and settlement risk while ensuring amazing customer experiences and implementing effective oversight and governance.

What will you be doing?

  • Develop, implement and oversee a risk program for Denizen
  • Acts as the risk lead for developing new products, services, or processes.
  • Manage customer onboarding, as relates to risk, fraud, and product improvement.
  • Define and manages transactional risk, particularly fraud risk, and help scale this function.
  • Create and monitor policies and procedures for risk operations.
  • Build and manage a risk operations team as business scales.
  • Ensure that the product and business fulfills its obligations under applicable law, regulation, and BBVA policy, while ensuring an improved and innovation customer experience.
  • Coordinate with Bank counterparts, as appropriate.


What you will bring:

  • 8 or more years of banking and regulated financial services experience focused in risk operations or product management roles focused on KYC, credit and settlement risk functions.
  • At least 4 years of experience managing risk and operations issues in moderately complex environments involving cross-departmental coordination in a financial services environment.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance trends especially BSA/AML, Consumer and Non Consumer compliance, Privacy regulation, and cross-border compliance.
  • Experience evaluating risk and risk management practices specific to banking and payments products
  • Working knowledge of technology company tools and/or product development processes
  • Comfort with ambiguity and creating products or processes in an unstructured environment.
  • Working knowledge of technology company tools and/or product development processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to probe sensitive issues while maintaining the highest level of integrity and objectivity.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to coordinate work across borders and time zones.
  • Strong initiative, ability to prioritize, meet goals and deadlines.
  • Bachelor Degree in a relevant field.
  • A passion for trying new things and innovation in Fintech.
  • Fluency in Spanish, a plus
