Responsibilities

FUNCTION:   This position acts as both a portfolio manager and underwriter of credit requests in a high-volume environment, while adhering to department/bank policies and guidelines. 

 

DUTIES:

 

  1. Performs the portfolio management function by (1) actively managing loan maturities within assigned regions, (2) completing credit management reviews for loans with aggregate exposure greater than $1,000,000 prior the required completion deadlines, (3) conducting periodic reviews for credits with 60+ day delinquencies as needed, and (4) analyzing credits chosen for review based on material changes in business financial condition, business credit scores, and consumer bureaus.
  2. Leverages Moody’s Risk Analyst to generate credit grades within policy guidelines.
  3. Underwrites renewal credit applications presented through both the (1) Emerging Markets Commercial process (Commercial and Wealth Management Business Lines) and (2) Retail Small Business Maturing loan program.
  4. Initiates the renewal process for the Retail Line of Business by means of branch and/or customer contact, determines the appropriate loan product and renewal structure based upon customer needs and credit worthiness, and obtains requisite financial data.
  5. Obtains and analyzes pertinent financial and credit data to assist in determining the risk of assigned credits.
  6. Completes financial and repayment analysis with a focus on cash flow, liquidity, and leverage analysis.
  7. Evaluates collateral adequacy, industry risk, strengths/weaknesses, borrowing purpose, and viability of the business.
  8. Reviews credit applications, business credit scores, business reports and consumer bureaus.
  9. Periodically reviews and recommends additional credit requests including rate modifications, loan restructures, forbearance requests, etc.
  10. Recommends and manages the transfer of impaired loans to the bank’s special assets division (ARMS). Collaboration with Retail Collections and Special Asset Group required during the loan transfer process.
  11. Verifies underwriting conditions and additional approval requirements are satisfied.
  12. Ensures effective communication between field officers, Business Loan Center and other departments involved in the loan process.
  13. Other duties and special assignments assigned by Director of Portfolio Risk and Underwriting Center Manager.

Qualifications

 

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

 All candidates must have superior verbal, written, and organizational skills. Must be able to prioritize tasks demonstrating both management skills and ability to achieve communicated deadlines. High integrity and respect for confidentiality are invaluable. Excellent computer skills in Windows, understanding of business and personal financial statements, good phone and communication skills required. Proficient with Excel, Word, Power Point, and Microsoft Outlook. Familiar with internal systems including Appro, Alnova, MRA, C-Net, and LMS.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Commercial Portfolio Manager/Underwriter I: 

Bachelor’s degree in business related field business with emphasis in management, accounting, finance, and 1-2 years of previous underwriting, credit analysis and/or portfolio management experience. 

 

Commercial Portfolio Manager/Underwriter II:

Bachelor’s degree in business related field business with emphasis in management, accounting, finance, or a related field or equivalent professional experience. Candidates must have 5 years of previous underwriting, credit analysis and/or portfolio management experience.
